The Sow and Grow Scholar program, a Nourish Syracuse initiative, is designed to introduce students to urban agriculture and healthy eating through hands-on learning. Our program turns gardening and growing food into an exciting, educational activity that helps students understand where their food comes from and how it benefits their health. As part of our Farm to School approach, we partner with local farmers to bring fresh ingredients into the classroom, teaching kids how these foods are grown and the importance of nutrition. Through Sow and Grow Scholars, students will learn the basics of gardening, from planting seeds to caring for plants and harvesting fresh produce. They’ll gain valuable skills in teamwork, responsibility, and environmental care while building healthy habits for life bodies but also their minds.
